This paper reports on a study of the growth pattern of world marine engineering literature derived from the Engineering Information CDROM COMPENDEX published by Elsevier for the period 1969-2005. Determines the rate of growth of marine engineering literature by calculating relative growth rates and doubling time for publications. The criteria on which growth models are to be selected for application to marine engineering literature re briefly discussed.
