Current Science:A Bibliometric Study

This paper analyses the citation pattern in Current Science, a premier periodical in science published in India, for the years 2005 and 2006. The study is based on the 16,404 citations given in the articles published in the 48 issues. Authorship pattern, types of publications, language-wise distribution, highly productive institutions, and periodicals preferred by cited scientists are examined. Two-authored papers constituted 26.4% with 4332 citations. Current Science ranked as the number one periodical among the citations with 508 citations.
