In an earlier editorial {Information Studies, vl5(3), 2009 July, p. 129- 130) I wrote briefly on the contributions of the Italian Jesuit Fr. Constantino Giuseppe Beschi (1680-1740) to Tamil scholarship. His four-part Caturakarati (first publication 1732), a Tamil lexicon is useful as a source of Tamil terms to build thesaurus, scheme for classification, and other vocabulary management tools for use in information retrieval systems for classical Tamil.
