The objective of social networking is to enable people to come together to exchange information and ideas and to act collaboratively on anything of common interest. In the age of information and communication technologies (ICTs), the emphasis is on the application of these technologies to achieve the objective. Social networking without the use of ICTs has been practised for a long time.
