On deeper analysis of available technologies and strategies to organize Internet resources like information gateways and portals, virtual libraries etc; it is found that there is considerable overlap between these different systems. Even though we have the technologies and standards already exist to make this vision a reality, still the lack of a collaborated gateway reflects in our user's dependency on Google and other mechanisms. This paper gives an out look towards a study to be undertaken to develop a global subject gateway portal with the help of an internationally integrated search strategy and content management system.

Abstract

On deeper analysis of available technologies and strategies to organize Internet resources like information gateways and portals, virtual libraries etc; it is found that there is considerable overlap between these different systems. Even though we have the technologies and standards already exist to make this vision a reality, still the lack of a collaborated gateway reflects in our user's dependency on Google and other mechanisms. This paper gives an out look towards a study to be undertaken to develop a global subject gateway portal with the help of an internationally integrated search strategy and content management system.
