Dr. Nilratan Sircar and His Medical Ideas

Though the Bengalis lacked opportunities of being self-sufficient, there was no dearth of brains in them. The own attempt of the Bengalis started. The Bengali started creating his own space in medical science within the framework of the colonial regime. Dr. Nilratan Sircar was such an astonishing and much-debated Bengali personality in the history of medical science in this country. He was a famous physician an scientist of this country. The Mayor or Calcutta of those times, Sayyed Baddruduja said of Dr. Sircar that “Sir Nilratan was a great Bengali, a great Indian, overall a great patriot and an inspiration for the future generation.” He wanted to use medical science as such a weapon which could be used to solve the various problems of national life and lead the way to new and newer paths of advancement. In this, he was immersed in many new ideas throughout his working life which was full of variety.
