Science in India and Swami Vivekananda
Subscribe/Renew Journal
It is a folklore in the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru that founding of this premier Institution has something to do with Swami Vivekananda [B V Subbarayappa, In Pursuit of Excellence, Tata- McGraw-Hill, 1992]. It spread from a letter, written by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata to Swamiji in November 1898, where he recalls a conversation with him aboard a boat from Japan to Vancouvre in September 1893. Swamiji was heading for Chicago to attend the Parliament of Religions.
