The Holy Ganga debauching from the Himalayas from a height of nearly 4000 metre from sea level with crystal clear water at the source meets the Bay of Bengal. It meanders through umpteen cities, towns and villages and in its long course of 2525 kilometres is charged with enormous quantity of pollution being one of the most polluted rivers in the world. The clear holy Ganga when descends down from the hills of Hardware is subjected to mostly anthropogenic pollution. Large numbers of people take bath and leave their washings and human wastes in the Ganga. The banks are open spaces of human defecation it receives very whopping amount of wastes from number of temples and centres of worships located along the banks with religious offerings.
