Laws and Logical Necessity in Philosophy of Science

A well established scientific law carries both certainty and authenticity of truth which is universal at all time and places. The logic of scientific method is a way of establishing how science can arrive at universal laws of particular instances. This problem has drawn the attention of philosophers since Aristotle. If the laws of science are universally valid, then they should embody a necessary relationship. To say that ‘AH metals expand on heating’ is to affirm a necessary relationship between heating of metals and expansion.
