Eurocentrism prevails in most of the discourses in the history of science as it does in mathematics. The same is also true for writings on Renaissance. A substantive amount of activities, influencing mathematics of the later centuries, happened during the Renaissance period in Europe. The symbolic representation, postulational form of thinking had begun during that period followed by professionalization and institutionalization of mathematics. This paper examines the influences of the extant works originating from India, China, present day Iraq and Iran during the period of antiquity and the Islamic golden age, to the body of knowledge in mathematics that developed during the Renaissance.
