Adolescents – Need to be Cared!

Adolescence is a crucial significant period which extends from 13 to 19 Yrs. It is the stage when boys and girls move from childhood to adult hood physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. It is a stage of gaining sexual maturity. The concerns and issues of adolescents are many. They are peer pressure, love affairs, media fantasies, identity crisis, sexual exploration, un employment, forced marriage, Jilted by men. Adolescents need to be cared during this crucial period. If uncared the consequences care very pathetic. They are unprotected sex, abortions, teen Pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and AIDS, lung diseases, anxiety, depression, suicidal attempts and juvenile delinquency. Parents, family, teachers, health care personnel especially nurses bear a great responsibility to promote and protect adolescent development.
