Background: Worm infestation is a major problem in children from developing countries due to bad hygienic conditions. These parasitic infection manifested by reduced growth rates and children are not able to achieve their full potential in physical performance and education. So a study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge of mothers regarding prevention of worm infestation.

Material and methods: evaluative approach with Pre -experimental one group pretest post test design was used. Study was conducted on 30 mothers residing in Kale village by using non probability purposive sampling technique.

Results: - pre and post test knowledge score were compared with the help of paired 't' test. Pre test mean was 10.06 and post -test mean was 15.06. The calculated 't' value 13.079 is more than table value. Hence there is significant difference between pre-test and post test knowledge level. This shows that mothers improved their knowledge after receiving planned teaching programme. This study recommends follow up study to determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme, in terms of change in behavior towards the practices of mothers regarding prevention of worm infestation.
