Assessment of Knowledge and Practices of People Regarding Dengue Fever

The present study was conducted to assess the knowledge and practice regarding dengue fever among the people of village Payal, Ludhiana, Punjab. The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge and practice regarding dengue fever among the people of village Payal, Ludhiana, Punjab. Quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was considered appropriate for the present study. A total of 100 people were purposely selected for data collection. The tool used was divided into three parts as demographic data, questionnaire to assess knowledge regarding dengue fever among the people of age group 20-60 years and checklist to assess the practices of the people regarding dengue fever. The study was conducted in the third week of July 2015. The data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that 86% of the people had good knowledge and 14% had average knowledge whereas, in practices 98% had good practices and only 2% of people had poor practice regarding dengue fever. The knowledge score had statistical significant relationship with age, gender, marital status and per capita income. The practice score had statistical significant relationship with marital status. The findings of the present study indicated that people had good level of knowledge and practice regarding dengue fever.
