A study to assess the effect of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewives in selected areas at Alappuzha district

A quantitative research study was done to evaluate the effect of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewife in selected areas at Alappuzha district. The objective s were to assess the pretest level of knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewives in selected areas at Alappuzha district, to assess the effect of planned teaching programme on knowledge immune boosting diet among housewives in selected area at Alappuzha district and to find out the association between pretest level of knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewives in selected areas in Alappuzha district. The Quantitative research approach was selected with Quasi experimental one group pretest post test control group design.The study was conducted in housewives at selected areas at Alappuzha district. 60 Samples were selected according to the non-probability convenient sampling techniques.Screening test was done for the population with screening criteria. The pretest was conducted for 60 housewives on first day followed by implementation of planned teaching programme and 7th day post test were conducted. The average time taken to conduct pre-test and post test. The Planned teaching programme was 45 minutes with the help of Audio visual Aids like charts, slides. The findings were that, mean between post test knowledge score of experimental group (P<0.05) indicates that there is a significant increase knowledge score of experimental group knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewives after planned teaching programme. The association between knowledge score with various demographic variables shows 0.05 level of significance and it shows there is a significant association between knowledge score and demographic variables like sex, diet and habbit except age in years, education, Occupation, body weight. Present study suggests the need for planned teaching programme to improve the knowledge regarding immune boosting diet among housewives.
