Performance of kharif Jowar Production in Akola District of Vidharbha Region

The present study is an attempt to evaluate the growth and instability of an important crop, Kharif jowar. Akola district from Vidharbha region was chosen purposively as area under Kharif jowar was highest reported in Akola district of Vidharbha region. The study was based on secondary data pertained to the year 1991- 92 to 2011-12. The results revealed that Kharif jowar is an important crop in Akola district. The growth rates for area and production were found significant. Instability studied in Akola indicated that Kharif jowar productivity exhibited less variation. It means that production ofKharif jowar over the period has been almost constant. Production witnessed highest instability as compared to area and productivity.
