A Novel Method of Improving Reliability through FMEA- A Case Study

In today's competitive environment, it is important to create a system or set of procedures that allow traditional functions to support each other efficiently. Design, manufacturing, sales and distributions etc. have to work together efficiently and quickly at all the managerial levels. On the other hand, all processes and materials along with the environment in which the product operates are subjected to variations. In all the cases, close control of the variation can prevent failures. Again, as per ISO 9000 series standards, suppliers are to plan quality in advance and quality is now being incorporated in design. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is one of the tools which can be used to improve reliability. In this work, an example of application of this concept is given.
