The first conference was held on 24 April, 1969. Sri S. Basu, Sri A. Deb, and Sri S. Neogi briefed the Press about the plan and programme of the Golden Jubliee Celebration.

Hand outs were issued from time to time to the Press, which were well covered. Articles and notes were also published by various newspapers. Ananda Bazar Patrika, in its issue of 8. 6. 1969, wrote as under.
