Standardisation of Engineering Education in India

Engineering institutions in India were founded more than hundred years ago to turn out engineering assistants for Public Works Department of the Government for routine work and where required to execute the work. Teaching staff were mostly European and among them were many R.E. (Royal Engineer). Service was the objective and scope of the Institutions was moulded accordingly.
