Mild Steel Weld Metal
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Mild steel weld metal is an important engineering material on which depends the overall strength and efficiency of welded fabrications in mild steel such as pipelines, bridges, ships, boilers, penstocks and locomotive fireboxes. In manual metallic arc welding, the weld metal is deposited from an electrode by the fusion of its metallic core wire in the electric arc formed between the electrode and the work-piece. The flux covering of the electrode also melts in the arc and provides slag that refines and modifies the weld metal and forms a solid blanket over it on solidification.
