Improvement in the housing condition in rural areas is considered essential because 80% of the total population of our country resides in villages and the type of houses they live in range from bamboo huts to bricks/concrete houses. It has been noted that the majority of this 80% population live in bad housing condition and due to lack of facilities such as drainage, proper streets, safe drinking water, open space etc. the living conditions in the villages are far from satisfactory.
