Resource Development for Improved Rural Living Condition Through Transfer of Technology

Basing on official data and findings, as in Housing Census and the Study Group Report on Rural Housing, N.B.O., Ministry of Works & Housing, the rural housing position in broader and regional perspective has been analysed with reference to villages both developed and underdeveloped. The paper tries to establish that the crux of the problem rests to a great extent on the socio-economic and cultural base of the regional settlements. Unless this base is suitably toned up through exogeneous inputs as may be absorbed by the potentials of the settlements, much progress in the sphere of housing and standard of living is not possible.
