Nomograms for Steel Column Bases With Large Eccentricity:PART I

A laborious calculation is required in determining the size of the base plate and holding-down bolts when column bases are subject to large bending moment. This difficulty may be avoided by preparing suitable nomograms (rather computation table). It is proposed here to develop nomograms assuming idealised variation of contact pressure at the base plate.
