Urbanisation and the problems that go with it are mainly directed by anonymous economic forces, rather than by the desires and needs of the people who live in or near the urbanised areas. In developing economics, urbanisation mainly results from the combined effect of the push from the countryside due to surplus agricultural labour and the pull of fast growing employment opportunities in cities due to increasing pace of industrialisation, promoting immigration from the rural sector.

Abstract

Urbanisation and the problems that go with it are mainly directed by anonymous economic forces, rather than by the desires and needs of the people who live in or near the urbanised areas. In developing economics, urbanisation mainly results from the combined effect of the push from the countryside due to surplus agricultural labour and the pull of fast growing employment opportunities in cities due to increasing pace of industrialisation, promoting immigration from the rural sector.
