The technology of municipal refuse practice has undergone radical changes during the present era in the developed countries. The urge of living in a clean retreat, has forced the dwellers to find ways out, to avert this problem in an ingenious way. Calcutta, once the second largest city of the British Empire, has witnessed least activity, in this context, even after twenty five years of Independence. With the population explosion at the doorstep, the situation had been worsening fast and in a most fatal way. The severity of the problem, demands immediate attention and remedial measures need be undertaken without any delay.
