Snags in 'Mini' Approach on Steel

A lot of heat has been generated inside the Parliament and in the public mind by the announcement that six parties have been licensed by the government, in the first instance, for setting up Mini Steel Plants of a size of 50,000 tonnes production per year. The process to be used, it is reported, is Basic Electric Arc Furnace with Continuous Casting using steel scrap as the raw material.
