Solution of Actual Problem by Model Study

This paper deals in the first place with the principles of construction and operation of a hydraulic scale model in brief outline. Then an example has been cited where hydraulic model studies have yielded a number of possible solutions, It has been explained that choice of a solution depends on many factors. It has been stressed that model results judiciously interpreted in the background of an intimate knowledge of prototype behaviour would yield solutions of a very wide class of problems faced by a hydraulic engineer.
