Lithium (Li) is a well-known drug in clinical psychiatry and is widely used in the treatment of affective disorders, especially bipolar patients with manic-depressive psychosis. A series of experimental studies from our laboratories over the last many years, however, have shown that the administration of this anti-manic drug, either acutely or on a chronic basis, leads to a number of adverse reproductive effects.
