Age at Menarche:An Intra-Tribe and Inter-Tribe Variation Study among the Tribal Population of Arunachal Pradesh
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The specific age at onset of menarche is a characteristic of an ethnic group and also determines the reproductive potential of a girl. Various factors, both genetic and non-genetic are known to have profound effect on the onset of menarche. Being distinct biological isolates due to frequent inter-tribal clashes, the tribal population groups of Arunachal Pradesh are characterized by their individual, cultural, religious and social lineage through which they have been able to maintain their separate entitites as distinct from other population groups and even from their fellow tribesmen.
