Effect of Nickel on Reproductive Behaviour and Gametes of a Tube Building Polychaete Hydroides elegans
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Nickel has not been considered as a broad scale global contaminant however, ecological changes such as decrease in number and diversity of species have been observed in areas around sources of nickel emission. Nickel is an essential metal but extremely toxic beyond a threshold level. Nickel compounds alter gene expression in most of the organisms. The present study is aimed to study the effect of nickel on reproductive behaviour and histological changes in various organs of a sedentary polychaete Hydroides elegans.
