A Study on the Biochemical Constituents in the Muscle Tissue of Megalaspis cordyla in Relation to Habitat Conditions
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The biochemical constituents, viz.. protein, carbohydrate and lipid levels in the muscle tissue of the fish Megalaspis cordyla has been studied in relation to the habitat conditions. Two areas, i.e., Visakhapatnam harbour (Sl-1) receiving cflluenl discharges from different industries and Bheemile coast at Gosthani estuary (St-2) devoid of industrial effluent discharges have been chosen for the present study. The results showed that the protein, carbohydrate and lipid levels in the samples of the tlsh collected from St-1 which is having considerable concentrations of heavy metals (Zn, Pb and Cd) were less compared to those from St-2.
