India is having potential of 1.2 million hectares waterspread area for brackishwater farming, out of which only 150956 hectares area are under Black Tiger Prawan, Peneaiis monodou culture. It is noted that in West Bengal and Kerala most of the areas are under traditional culture which is known as Bheri culture in West Bengal and Pokkali in Kerala.
