Gastrotliylax crumenifer and Ceylonocotyie scoliocoelium are two common rumen trematode parasites of cattle. Saccharides play essential roles in this anaerobic habitat to maintain physiological activity. Hexose and pentose help in synthesis of co-enzymes and nucleic acids respectively. Present comparative estimations of hexose and pentose of two species suggest that variations may be due to variable up-take capacity or variable in metabolic activities.
