A catalogue on freshwater and terrestrial amphipoda of India dealing with 16 species under 11 genera and 7 families is prepared for the first time. Type localities and repository of types have been cited and brief ecology and distribution of these species discussed. Neotype designation of Talorchestia malayensis Tattersall, 1922 by Lowry and Springthorpe (2015) is set aside and the name-bearing type is traced out.
