An Analytical Study on Effect of Digital Environment on Human Health in Indian Context During COVID-19 Lockdown

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on various health conditions and the lockdown period exposed both young adults and adults to the virtual mode without any physical activity, along with a rise in the weight gain due to unhealthy snacking habit. This study primarily focus on how the virtual mode is affecting the sleeping pattern and food habits of the modern generation, leading to unnecessary weight gain.An online survey was conducted and responses of 263 individuals (of ages 18-50) were considered. Using Shapiro-Wilk test it had been observed that body weights of the individuals did not follow a normal distribution and also it has been found that the weight significantly increased during the lockdown period by applying the paired sign test. Logistic regression model is used to see the impact of screen time on sleep cycle and food habits and the models are found to be accurate and significant. Individuals spending harmful amounts of time in front of screened devices are observed to have improper sleep cycles and unhealthy food habits using the p-value.
