Water quality and plankton diversity study was carried out for three years (from June, 2017 to May, 2019) from three different water bodies in Assam, India. The generic level richness and composition of zooplankton was found to be more during the pre-monsoon period in these waterbodies. The absence of various common phytoplankton was observed in Dighalipukhuri apparently due to the effect of pollutants. In general, the gradual decrease in the richness of phytoplankton affected the richness of zooplankton of these study sites. The pollution indices of Dighalipukhuri showed organic pollution whereas in Chandubi lake and Deepor beel diversity of phytoplankton showed a remarkable increase due to less impact of pollutants.
