Agricultural Production Cost: A Case Study of Sesame Cultivation in Goghat Block, Hooghly District, West Bengal

Agricultural income and activities are of prime importance in West Bengal. In Goghat Block under Arambag Sub-division, Hooghly district, West Bengal alluvial soil is helpful for growing rice and potatoes. Sesame cultivation is also increasing in recent years. Herein, cost benefit analysis of sesame cultivation is presented for 2022 (wet harvesting season) and 2023 (dry harvesting season). This report reveals loss in wet harvesting season and marginal profit in dry harvesting season for land owner concerned, and scarcity of agri-labours.
