Advantages of Hole Placement of Fertilizer Application for Orchard:A Brief Review

Generally in orchard plant fertilizers are applied twice in a year once in the pre-rainy season (Jyistha and Ashar) and other in the post-rainy season (Aswin and Kartik). In case of papaya and lemon fertilizers are applied thrice in a year. In case of banana fertilizers are applied after one and half month?s interval. The general method of fertilizer application in case of orchard is Basin placement. In this method a line is drawn around the stem along border line of the shade of the tree at noon. Along this line a trench is dug 30 cm in breadth and 30 cm depth. Precaution is taken so that no ischolar_mains are to be cut. There are three methods of localized placement of fertilizer application like band placement, hole placement and half circle. Band placement of fertilizer application is suitable for potato.
