We congratulate Singh and Srivastava (2011) for their recent fieldwork in Subathu Formation near its type locality and presenting evidences of "Hummocky cross stratification and limestone clast containing facies" as products of storm deposit. This is in complete contrast to the earlier reported turbidite/mass flow origin of these limestones and associated sandstone beds (Bera et al., 2008). We have, however, strong reservations about this interpretation mainly because the field documentation is extremely poor and previously published data were wrongly interpreted to conveniently prove the presence of Subathu 'Hummocks'. Further, a specific field photograph was a complete fabrication. Below we discuss the above points in details.
