Leachable fluoride absorbed in the soil and clays are the main sources of fluoride in groundwater. A good correlation between F- and Na+ (lithogenic sodium) have been obtained. Alkalinity of the circulating waters may be one of the deciding factors for the high incidence of fluoride in natural waters in Amreli district.
