Human Sigma-An Innovative Tool for Enhancing Quality of Education

The or world is changing dramatically due to various iri global competition, the country's economy, EssacTOijss and advancement in technology. The importance of education for the development of excellence, expertise and knowledge has emerged as a major activity with new international dimensions. Since time immemorial Educational institutions have always prioritized academic excellence and high quality. A lot of innovative quality improvement tools have been applied for the same. The most applied one being the principles of total quality management. But somewhere the most important aspect of education which is teacher-student encounter was missed out. Thus a need is felt to find a tool which can throw light on teacher-student relationship. Human Sigma, researched by Gallup, is a strategic approach that is supported by tactics for driving improvement and organizational change. Human sigma can prove to be an important tool in revolutionizing the education system. The present paper is an attempt to theoretically conceptualize human sigma in education. The main objective of this paper is to highlight the general aspects of human sigma and to point out how this approach can bear fruitful results in improving the quality of academic institutions for long term sustainability.
