Rabinow [1] has defined a field in terms of inverse operations by a large number of postulates. In this paper we have defined a field in two-sided inverse binary compositions by means of six main postulates only. F. Husain and 31. A. Kazim [3] have given a number of characterizations of an abelian subtractive group in three postulates. We use some of those in the present paper to define a field in this novel way.

Abstract

Rabinow [1] has defined a field in terms of inverse operations by a large number of postulates. In this paper we have defined a field in two-sided inverse binary compositions by means of six main postulates only. F. Husain and 31. A. Kazim [3] have given a number of characterizations of an abelian subtractive group in three postulates. We use some of those in the present paper to define a field in this novel way.
