The α-pedal of a curve :

Draw a straight lice from the origin making always a constant angle a with the variable tangent to a curve. The locus of the intersection of tho line and the tangent may be called the oblique pedal or the a-pedal of the curve, as distinguished from the right or first positive pedal.
