The introduction of the Secondary School-Leaving Certificate into this country appears to have set in operation forces likely to leave a permanent mark on the quality of Mathematical Teaching in Secondary Schools. The book under review is an attempt to remove the artificial distinction between Arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry.
