Remake of Folk Songs in India: Cultural Appropriations, Traditional Expressions and Copyright Dilemma

India's indigenous communities have long been aesthetically vibrant, as seen by their complex handicrafts, rich literature, and traditional folk melodies. The Indian music industry is also susceptible to the effects of this indigenous culture's influence. In traditional music, there is also the issue of the constant reworking or recombination of accessible material within the traditional musical system. In order to accurately estimate the significance of intellectual property protection forfolklore, the authors have studied the constitutive elements of Copyright laws and discussed them in the light ofthe preservation of Traditional Cultural Expressions, specifically folk songs, by interviewing a few experts who are associated with the Indian Music Industry. The study also emphasizes the necessity of defining, identifying, conserving, preserving, disseminating, and safeguarding folklore, which has been a dynamic cultural heritage of immense economic, social, and political relevance since ancient times.
