Modernism covers a large variety of styles and techniques. It is not a single movement but a cluster of movements. But Dahiya says:“If Jamesian point of view novel is to mark the advent of modernism in fiction it started in the mid 1870s; if Conrad, then in the mid-1890s; if Lawerence or Woolf, then in the middle of the first decade of the twentieth century.”
