Gels for transdermal drug delivery of nifedipine were formulated using various solvents, co-solvents in a carbomer gel base. These medicated gels were then assessed for physico-chemical properties and invitro release studies through artificial semi-permeable membrane using Keshary Chien diffusion Cell. Selected optimal formulations were further subjected to primary skin irritation studies and later on stability studies. Due to the photosensitive nature of nifedipine, all experimental works were carried out in dark.

Abstract

These medicated gels were then assessed for physico-chemical properties and invitro release studies through artificial semi-permeable membrane using Keshary Chien diffusion Cell. Selected optimal formulations were further subjected to primary skin irritation studies and later on stability studies. Due to the photosensitive nature of nifedipine, all experimental works were carried out in dark.
