Anamolous Behaviour of Surfactant Adsorption from Aqueous Solutions on Solid Sorbents under Dynamic Conditions
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The dynamic adsorption capacity of hemicolloids like active bright red dye 5 SH, oxyethylated alkylphenol, synthamide on the solid sorbents like active carbon AG-3, Anionite AN-31 at different flow velocities and temperatures were found to be more than the static adsorption capacity under identical conditions. This is an unusual behaviour and the nature of this phenomenon is associated with the specificity of display of the hydrophobic interactions in aqueous solutions containing hemicolloid compounds. Increase of temperature leads to the increase of sorbate quantity. This new phenomenon has been explained by the micelle formation at the contact of the micelle forming compounds with solid sorbents.
