Deactivation of Zeolite Catalyst in Aniline Alkylation
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Deactivation of zeolite used in aniline alkylation by 2-propanol in vapour phase under atmospheric pressure was investigated. Blockage of pores and coverage of surface of zeolite by carbonaceous materials and poisoning of active sites by nitrogenous compounds are the causes of deactivation. The coke deposit was found more in Ce-form than in Na-form. This is attributed to the relatively higher acidity of Ce-Y form than that of Na-Y form. Deactivated catalyst was regenerated by heating in a current of air at 500°C for 8 h. Regenerated catalyst showed improved activity.
