Coordinate Metrology in Aerospace Manufacturing

Metrology is the science of measurement derived from the Greek word metro-logy, which includes all aspects of both theoretical and practical reference to measurements, their uncertainty and in whatever fields of science or technology they occur. One of the most illustrious scientists of the 19th century, Lord Kelvin, once remarked in a lecture "Knowledge about anything is complete only when it can be measured and expressed in numbers. When you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind ".
