Influence of Cutting Parameters on Surface Roughness, Metal Removal Rate and Power Consumption on En353 with Coated Tools by Anova

The customers’ most specified requirement is surface roughness which is the indicator of surface quality. In manufactures point of view minimization of power consumption and maximization of metal removal rate is high priority. Hence, it is important to investigate the influence of cutting parameters on surface roughness (Ra); Metal Removal Rate (MRR) and Power consumption (PC). In the present paper, EN353 is considered as work piece material as it has wide applications in manufacturing of gears, frame structures, shafts etc,. Selected tools are PVD (PR1125) and CVD (CR5515) consists of the coating surfaces of TiAlN and TiCN+Al2O3+TiN respectively. Experiments were conducted by using Taguchi Design of experiments of L27 orthogonal array. Analysis of ANOVA on the experimental results of CVD and PVD tools on EN353 were presented and it is observed that, there is no coincidence of levels of operating cutting conditions for better surface roughness, maximum MRR and Minimum Power consumption.
